Murray Canyon to Seven Falls Hike, Santa Rosa San Jacinto National Monument, Palm Springs, California
If you find yourself in the Palm Springs area and you are looking to do a half day hike, I highly recommend the Murray Canyon to Seven Falls hike. This hike does take place in the Santa Rosa San Jacinto National Monument so you will need to pay a fee per person to access the hike.
We parked at a trailhead off of South Palm Canyon Drive. We started on a very well traveled trail and followed it to Murray Canyon where we found large trees that offered a lot of shade and a small creek. We followed the trail upstream, having to cross the creek a few times, but it never required getting our feet wet.
As we approached the waterfall, we decided to take off our shoes and get our feet went to cool off a bit. After taking a few pictures, we headed back downstream towards a small little swimming hole where we decided to take a dip and cool off. The water felt nice on the 100 degree day! We decided to make it a loop hike and took the trail that took us up to the ridge and away from the stream on the way back to the car. This part of the route gave us nice views of the mountains around us and Palm Springs to the north. A short while later, we found ourselves back at the car.
Overall, it was a beautiful hike that I really enjoyed!
